About the event

Meaning of Aarti

Aarti is a Hindu religious ritual of worship, wherein light is offered to one or more deities. The term "Aarti" is derived from the Sanskrit word "Aarati," which means "to remove darkness." The ritual typically involves the circling of a flame in front of the deity while singing devotional songs or hymns, known as "Aarti songs."

Purpose of Aarti

The Aarti ritual serves several purposes:

  • Devotional Offering: Aarti is a way for devotees to express their love and devotion to the divine. It is considered a form of worship that helps in strengthening the bond between the worshipper and the deity.

  • Spiritual Cleansing: The light from the Aarti flame symbolizes the removal of ignorance and negativity. It is believed that participating in Aarti helps purify the mind and soul.
